Ancient Ayurvedic physicians required that their patients perform a yearly cleansing and revitalizing program called Panchakarma, as a means of keeping mind, body and spirit healthy and strong. The full program took a month to complete and included sessions to improve physical, emotional, family, community and spiritual aspects of life. One of the main components of Panchakarma was Shirodara. It is still practiced in many areas for its many health benefits.
What to expect with a Shirodara treatment:
- Shirodara is an ancient Ayurvedic treatment which uses warmed aromatic oils poured gently over the forehead for an extended period of time
- When finished, the client's head is wrapped in towels to keep it warm and the client is encouraged to rest
- Tibetan Singing Bowls are played to help the client wake up
Effects of Shirodara include:
- A deep sense of peace and relaxation
- A quiet mind – no chatter
- Sense of no limits or boundaries – just one with the Universe
- Resetting one's Stress Meter to a more manageable level
Who would benefit from Shirodara:
- Anyone feeling extremely stressed or worried
- Those who have an over-active mind and can't seem to “turn things off”
- Artistic people who have a creative “block” and need to be inspired
- Anyone wanting to experience a sense of “expansion” in their life
