L'AROMA ESSENTIAL OIL TREATMENTS  by Pat Antoniak

Those of you who take Aqua-Chi treatments have been wondering what the new “chamber” is in the treatment room. It's been a while since I've had it at the Centre, so let me introduce it to everyone now.

The official name of the machine is the L'Aroma Micro-vaporization Cabinette. We can call it the L'Aroma Unit for ease! This equipment combines aromatherapy (use of essential oils) and aerotherapy (use of air molecules) to deliver an intense treatment of essential oils to a client. The system was developed by the ISECA Institute in France and has been used in many medical spas, wellness centres and holistic clinics around the world. In fact, the French Soccer team has used L'aroma as an adjunct to sports and rehab therapies.

The L'Aroma treatment is a combination of three things:

1. Dry heat

2. Filtered and slightly pressured air, constantly renewed

3. Nebulization of essential oils

The dry heat encourages the body to experience dilation of skin pores, arteries and veins. The filtered air holds the essential oils in suspension. And nebulization ls is a way of “spraying” microscopic particles of essential oils around the body. The body sits in air that is saturated with essential oils. The skin absorbs the essential oil blend and sends it through the body via the blood and lymph. This is one of the most intense essential oil experiences you can have.

There are nine specific L'Aroma treatment programs. Each program has a specific blend of essential oils and number and frequency of sessions. Clients report that their reactions to L'Aroma increase with each session, so the timing and frequency of each treatment during a program is important to the final outcome. Once a treatment series is finished, you may opt to have maintenance sessions every month or so. Some folks enjoy having a L'Aroma session prior to an aromatherapy massage, lymphatic massage, Reflexology or energy treatment session in order to multiply the therapeutic effects.

A session of L'Aroma takes up to 40 minutes in the heated Cabinette, with at least a 10 minute resting period immediately following. No shower is required afterward, as the skin is still absorbing the essential oil blend. There are some people who should not use L'Aroma: those pregnant or breast-feeding, those with unstable heart or blood pressure and those who have Anaphylaxis as a result of allergies or sensitivities may find the treatment too intense. People with claustrophobia or other anxiety issues generally have no problem using the Cabinette, as you can get out of it whenever you feel the need to.

Prices for sessions vary, depending upon how many sessions are needed to complete a program. For example, one session by itself is $70.00, but a series of 21 sessions will cost $45.00 per session. For those wanting more information on the programs and payment plans, feel free to contact Pat .
